The Light and the Truth

Daniel 11 - last part

„The world is stirred with the spirit of war. The prophecy of the eleventh chapter of Daniel has nearly reached its complete fulfillment. Soon the scenes of trouble spoken of in the prophecies will take place.“ 9T 14

„Until Christ shall appear in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory, men will become perverse in spirit and turn from the truth to fables. The church will yet see troublous times. She will prophesy in sackcloth. But although she must meet heresies and persecutions, although she must battle with the infidel and the apostate, yet by the help of God she is bruising the head of Satan. The Lord will have a people as true as steel, and with faith as firm as the granite rock. They are to be His witnesses in the world, His instrumentalities to do a special, a glorious work in the day of His preparation.
The gospel message does not win a single soul to Christ, or make its way to a single heart, without wounding the head of Satan. Whenever a captive is wrenched from his grasp, delivered from his oppression, the tyrant is defeated.“ 4T 594

„I ask our people to study the twenty-eighth chapter of Ezekiel. The representation here made, while it refers primarily to Lucifer, the fallen angel, has yet a broader significance. Not one being, but a general movement, is described, and one that we shall witness. A faithful study of this chapter should lead those who are seeking for truth to walk in all the light that God has given to His people, lest they be deceived by the deceptions of these last days.“ SpTB17a 30

„Of those who boast of their light, and yet fail to walk in it, Christ says, „But I say unto you, it shall be more tolerable for Thyre and Sidon at the judgment, than for you. And thou, Capernaum (Seventh Day Adventists who have had great light), which art exalted unto heaven (in point of privilege), shall be brought down to hell, for if the mighty works, which have been done in thee had been done in Sodom, it would have remained until this day. But I say unto you, that it shall be more tolerable for the land of Sodom in the day of judgment, than for thee.“ At that time Jesus answered and said, „I thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because thou hast hid these things from the wise and prudent (in their own estimation), and hast revealed them unto babes.“ RH Aug. 1, 1893

„When Adam sinned, man broke away from the heaven-ordained center. A demon became the central power in the world. Where God's throne should have been, Satan had placed his throne. The world laid its homage, as a willing offering, at the feet of the enemy.“ 6T 236

„When Christ the rightful heir to the throne of David came to Jerusalem to be crowned King, He was rejected by the leaders of Jerusalem. He was by his own people rejected as their king. „We will not have this man to rule over us ....“ When they were asked to choose between Christ and Barabbas, they cried out, „Release unto us Barabbas!“ COL 293-4

„Barabbas, the robber and murderer, was the representative of Satan. Christ was the representative of God. Christ had been rejected; Barabbas had been chosen. Barabbas they were to have. In making this choice they accepted him who from the beginning was a liar and a murderer. Satan was their leader.“ DA 738

„Jerusalem is a representation of what the church will be if it refuses to walk in the light that God has given. Jerusalem was favored of God as the depositary of sacred trusts. But her people perverted the truth, and despised all entreaties and warnings. They would not respect His counsels. The temple courts were polluted with merchandise and robbery.“ 8T 67, Jan. 12, 1898

„He (Satan) has deceived them, benumbed their sensibilities, and planted his hellish banner right in their midst, and they are so completely deceived that they know not that it is he.“ 2T 440

„Where God's throne should have been, Satan had placed his throne.“ 6T 236

„For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north: I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High. Yet thou shalt be brought down to hell, to the sides of the pit.“ Isaiah 14:13-15

„Great is the LORD, and greatly to be praised in the city of our God, in the mountain of his holiness. Beautiful for situation, the joy of the whole earth, is mount Zion, on the sides of the north, the city of the great King.“ Psalms 48:1,2

If we study well the earthly sanctuary built by Moses according to the instructions he received while in the mount communing with the Lord, we would learn that the Most Holy place was in the North side. In Exodus 26:31-35 we read, „And thou shalt make a vail of blue, and purple, and scarlet, and fine twined linen of cunning work: with cherubims shall it be made: And thou shalt hang it upon four pillars of shittim wood overlaid with gold: their hooks shall be of gold, upon the four sockets of silver. And thou shalt hang up the vail under the taches, that thou mayest bring in thither within the vail the ark of the testimony: and the vail shall divide unto you between the holy place and the most holy. And thou shalt put the mercy seat upon the ark of the testimony in the most holy place. And thou shalt set the table without the vail, and the candlestick over against the table on the side of the tabernacle toward the south: and thou shalt put the table on the north side.“

„And he put the table in the tent of the congregation, upon the side of the tabernacle northward, without the vail. And he set the bread in order upon it before the LORD; as the LORD had commanded Moses.“ Exodus 40:22,23

The vail depicting the cherubims divided the Most Holy place from the Holy place. We see in the verses above that the table was placed by the vail „northward“. Thus we see that the Most Holy place was on the north side. Here was the mercy seat and the ark of the covenant containing the ten commandments written with the finger of God.

„And thou shalt take fine flour, and bake twelve cakes thereof: two tenth deals shall be in one cake. ... And it shall be Aaron's and his sons'; and they shall eat it in the holy place: for it is most holy unto him of the offerings of the LORD made by fire by a perpetual statute.“ Leviticus 24:5,9

In the preceeding texts I endeavored to show the reason why Satan put it in his heart to sit „upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north“, particularly in the time of the Christian era. This is depicted in Daniel 8:9-12, where we read, „And out of one of them came forth a little horn, which waxed exceeding great, toward the south, and toward the east, and toward the pleasant land. And it waxed great, even to the host of heaven; and it cast down some of the host and of the stars to the ground, and stamped upon them. Yea, he magnified himself even to the prince of the host, and by him the daily sacrifice was taken away, and the place of his sanctuary was cast down. And an host was given him against the daily sacrifice by reason of transgression, and it cast down the truth to the ground; and it practised, and prospered.“

I believe that the above prophecy is familiar to all SDA's in all three organizations. Here we understand that the 'little horn' (Pope) and its host 'cast down the truth to the ground'. We read that he 'magnified himself even to the prince of the host, and by him the daily was taken away'. When the 'man of sin' sat in the church of God (2 Thess. 2:4), the prayers of the Christians for forgiveness of sins went to the Pope. Luther fought most bitterly against the sale of indulgences, the selling of grace for money. Thus the Pope (little horn that exalted itself to the prince) to a large extent took from Christ (our high Priest) the daily duties in the Holy place. During the time of the papal supremacy, Christians confessed their sins to the Catholic priests rather than to Christ, their Redeemer. Because of that false teaching Christians did not send their prayers upward to Christ in the Holy Place for the forgiveness of sins for the Pope cast down the truth to the ground. He also cast down some of the stars to the ground and stamped upon them. The Christian world of that day not only transgressed the second and fourth commandment, they also transgressed the first commandment, „I am the Lord thy God, ... Thou shalt have no other gods before me.“ Exodus 20:2,3

In order to further portray the fulfillment of Daniel 8:9-12, I quote the following from 1T, p. 578, „That night I dreamed that I was in Battle Creek looking out from the side glass at the door and saw a company marching up to the house, two and two. They looked stern and determined. I knew them well and turned to open the parlor door to receive them, but thought I would look again. The scene was changed. The company now presented the appearance of a Catholic procession. One bore in his hand a cross, another a reed. And as they approached, the one carrying a reed made a circle around the house, saying three times: “This house is proscribed. The goods must be confiscated. They have spoken against our holy order.” Terror seized me, and I ran through the house, out of the north door, and found myself in the midst of a company, some of whom I knew, but I dared not speak a word to them for fear of being betrayed. I tried to seek a retired spot where I might weep and pray without meeting eager, inquisitive eyes wherever I turned. I repeated frequently: “If I could only understand this! If they will tell me what I have said or what I have done!” This was written in 1867. So we see that the spirit of papacy was creeping into the SDA church almost from its very beginning – and that in the main headquarters of God's sacred work. They confiscated the books of the Spirit of Prophecy for these books revealed the deceptive workings of Satan in the midst of God's house. The book 'The Great Controversy Between Christ and Satan' suffered the most changes for it was foremost in uncovering the snares of Satan and the evil deeds done against the heavenly government. That book uncovers Satan's character and his works from the destruction of Jerusalem, through the Christian era and opens to the reader the fuutre and the end of the controversy until sin and sinners, root and branches, are completely destroyed.

As we read earlier, the church will once again prophesy in sackcloth. Thus we can see that the man of sin will once more sit in the church of God (Laodicean church – SDA church). In Testimonies to Ministers, p. 363, in the chapter entitled 'In the Track of Romanism', we read, „Rule, rule, has been their course of action. Satan has had an opportunity of representing himself. When one who professes to be a representative of Christ engages in sharp dealing and in pressing men into hard places, those who are thus oppressed will either break every fetter of restraint, or they will be led to regard God as a hard master. They cherish hard feelings against God, and the soul is alienated from Him, just as Satan planned it should be.“ In the same book on the page 117 we read, „All need wisdom carefully to search out the mystery of iniquity that figures so largely in the winding up of this earth's history.“ On page 116 we read that, „Every element of power is about to be set to work. Past history will be repeated; old controversies will arouse to new life, and peril will beset God's people on every side.“

Below I will briefly copy some words from the statement of beliefs of both SDA reform churches for both are organized in the same manner. One was organized in 1925 and the other was organized in 1951. „The President, with the Committee, carries responsibilities during the entire year in the same manner as the head of a local church.“ Farther on we read, „The workers of the State Conference are under the jurisdiction of the State President in their activities.“ On the same page we read, „The Mission Field is organized in the same manner as the State Conference, yet the supervision of the same rests in the hands of the Union President, or the minister appointed by him.“ Further on we read, „The Union Conference President supervises all officers and carries through the resolutions with the Committee. As the need arises, the Committee is called together by the president of the Union Conference.“ On the same page we read, „The State Conference President, as well as the mission Field President, are under the supervision of the Union Conference President, the working conditions are regulated by the Union.“ Reading further we see that, „Besides this, the General Conference is the appointed agency for the decision of all matters pertaining to the principles of truth .... The President, with the Committee directs the work and carries out the resolutions made at the biennial General Conference Session.“

I cannot for a moment believe that the Holy Spirit can lead such a great hierarchically organized pyramid where man has such ultimate control, nor can Christ be the head of such a church. I pity them but they have willingly submitted themselves to human rule and they cannot in honesty obey the first commandment which tells them to have no other gods before Him. If we would take a good, honest look at the condition of all SDA's, then we would see the fulfillment of the prophecy of Daniel chapter 11 in the closing drama of the history of this earth. John the Revelator confirms this in Rev. 18:1-5, „...and is become the habitation of devils, and the hold of every foul spirit, and a cage of every unclean and hateful bird. ...“

I repeat the quote from 9T, p. 14, „„The world is stirred with the spirit of war. The prophecy of the eleventh chapter of Daniel has nearly reached its complete fulfillment. Soon the scenes of trouble spoken of in the prophecies will take place.“

„But tidings out of the east (Christ's coming) and out of the north (from the Most Holy place) shall trouble him (Satan): therefore he shall go forth with great fury to destroy, and utterly to make away many. And he (Satan) shall plant the tabernacles of his palace between the seas in the glorious holy mountain (in God's church – as clearly seen in Rev. chapter 18); yet he shall come to his end, and none shall help him.“ Dan 11:44,45

When Satan shall try 'with great fury to destroy' God's people, the faithful remnant of Laodicea, then will be fulfilled Daniel 12:1. This will be in the sixth plague. In the beginning of the seventh plague, „...there came a great voice out of the temple of heaven (from the Most Holy place), from the throne, saying, It is done.“ Satan trembles at the sound of that voice. That voice comes from the north and gives the day and hour of Christ's coming. „ The battle of Armageddon is soon to be fought. He on whose vesture is written the name, King of kings and Lord of lords, leads forth the armies of heaven on white horses, clothed in fine linen, clean and white.“ (Ms 172, 1899) Christ will lead the heavenly angels in the battle of Armageddon, that the lives of the remnant might be preserved for Satan wishes to wipe the hated sect off the face of the earth. Christ will not allow His faithful ones to be killed for God wishes to glorify Himself in the deliverance of the faithful remnant. Thus the closing events of Daniel chapter 11 are tied to chapter 12:1 when Michael will stand up. L. G.
